The Opera Inside the Atom, Amy Myers
Guest curator: Chip Tom
 |
With four new drawings
and one site-specific wall painting, artist Amy
Myers presents work that bridges
the worlds between science and aesthetics. Drawn free-hand
with graphite, gouache, and conté crayons, her drawings reveal intricate
layers of lines, shapes, and color that allude to cosmic
charts, mathematical diagrams, and scientific graphs.
For CAF, Myers will create a
mural using interior latex house paints that refers to
our current fascinations with space exploration, subatomic
worlds, mapping of the human genome, and the possibilities
of stem cell research. As in much of her oeuvre, this
exhibition explores the artist's ongoing interest in the
esoteric nature of the universe and her personal relationship
to experimentation. |
