THE BELLWETHER EFFECT: AT THE FOREFRONT OF DESIGN
The Bellwether Effect: At the Forefront of Design is an exhibition open to all types of designers living or working within Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo counties and is intended to illuminate the diverse array of innovative, imaginative designs created in the Tri-County area while also highlighting the impact of design on our material and visual culture. The best designs will be selected for a group exhibition at the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum (CAF). The word bellwether connotes the existence or direction of a trend; so too will the designs featured in this dynamic group exhibition.

Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum is pleased to announce that Michael Barton-Miller, Jamie Caliendo, Paul De Bruyn Kops, Laura Devendorf, and carlos Grano will exhibit their work in November 2008 as part of the ongoing local artist exhibition program Call For Entries (CFE).
CFE is an annual juried exhibition program open to all artists living or working within Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties. This was an extraordinary year for the arts in the Tri-Counties with submissions from talented and diverse artist applicants. Jurors reviewed more than 1000 artwork examples submitted by over 100 artists.
Entries were reviewed and selected by a distinguished panel of arts professionals who are influential in critical discussion of emerging artists. This year’s panelists were Ann Diener, Artist; Lauri Firstenberg, Director, LAXART; Philip Kaiser, Curator, MOCA THE MUSEUM OFCONTEMPORARY ART; and Ali Subotnik, Curator, UCLA Hammer Museum of Art.
Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum is non-profit, non-collecting alternative art space dedicated to the exhibition, education, and cultivation of the arts of our time. Celebrating its 31st anniversary in 2006, CAF is the premier venue for contemporary art between Los Angeles and San Francisco. CFE reflects CAF’s mission to sustain and encourage contemporary art and artists—ensuring that creative expression and appreciation flourishes in and beyond our community.
