Forum Lounge: James Gilbert: Privacy is Dead Because We Said So
James Gilbert and CAF invite you to an on going performance of Privacy is Dead Because We Said So. The performance, where large piles of transparent plastic underpants will be sewn and collected as an accumulative sculpture, encourages the audience to participate in handling and re-presenting the underpants on hanging clothes lines. Themes of identity and privacy are explored as intimate objects are created, shared publicly, recontextualized and then redistributed publicly. This performance examines how personal intimate information goes from private to public via social networking sites, reality television and 24 hour news cycles. The audience is invited to attend either all or a portion the performance.
Support for Forum Lounge is generously provided by: Endevermusic Productions, the Franciscan Inn, KCSB, Santa Barbara Winery, and the Santa Barbara Independent. Forum Lounge is presented in association with the Santa Barbara Downtown Organization’s 1st Thursday.
